Script Review
Ya Ya is yet another addition to the long list of typical no-brainer movies that intend to make fun with mindless comedy sequences and zero care for logic. Though the film’s cast includes a bevy of stars who have provided oodles of fun in their previous outings, this film hardly achieves its intention.
Shiva’s antics and Santhanam’s one-liners evoke laughter only in a few scenes. The director’s idea to add spoof genre of fun with Powerstar in this film fails miserably. Powerstar’s scenes are irritating to say the least. Also the scenes that include Devadarshini are etched out in a cheap taste.
The romance sequences between the two pairs provide some refreshing moment. The scenes that are written in serious tone do not make any impact.
Cast and crew
It’s well known that Shiva knows his limits and does not venture in what he is not good at. But in this film even his comic timing has missed to hit the bull’s eye. His fans can go gung ho about one or two scenes here and there like the one in which he meets Powerstar for the first time.
Santhanam’s one-liners are also not up to the mark but the ace comedian has not missed the opportunity to bang with his trademark punch lines.
Dhanshika looks good and is adequate for the role.
Sandhya looks prettier than her previous movies and has performed convincingly.
Out of the other actors Ilavarasu makes a mark. One can only wish that an actor of Devadharshini’s calibre gets a role that suits her acting skills.
Vijay Ebenezer’s songs are just passable. Other technical departments like Cinematography and Editing do not deserve a mention.
