The Lunchbox makers have lashed out at the Film Federation of India for choosing a rather unknown Gujarati film named The Good Road as India’s official entry to the Oscars in the Best Foreign Film category.
According to The Lunchbox producer Anurag Kashyap and director Ritesh Batra, the film had good chances of making its way into the final five, in the Best Foreign Film category. It is making heads turn at various notable film festivals. This is the reason that they were visibly disappointed when their film was left out.
Anurag Kashyap posted on Twitter that he is quite disappointed by the FFI move and although that he is yet to see the movie which is now India’s official entry to the Oscars, he still feels that the jury lacked the vision and this is probably a golden chance missed.
Every year the FFI appoints a special committee which selects India’s official Oscars entry and this year it was headed by Goutam Ghose, a renowned Bengali filmmaker.
Karan Johar, who has been the presenter for The Lunchbox, echoed the sentiments of the director and producer of the movie. According to him the film was generating positives vibes all across the world and hence, this might just be a wrong judgment.
