The makers of the much-acclaimed film The Lunchbox are mighty miffed with the jury's decision of not making it India's entry to the Oscars 2014. The presenter of the film Karan Johar recently took to Twitter to express his disappointment and the producer of the movie, Anurag Kashyap too showed his resentment through his tweets on the micro-blogging site.
However, it seems that Anurag, who is known for fearlessly giving his opinions, got so frustrated by the jury's decision that he deleted his Twitter account.
When it was announced that Gujarati film The Good Road has been chosen over The Lunchbox, Anurag tweeted, “Feeling very very disappointed. I can't comment on the film which I have not seen, but it better make it to final five. I don't know who the federation is. But it goes to show why we completely lack the understanding to make films that can travel across borders.”
“We should then make a clean policy - you want to send the best film, then send the national award winner or send the one most likely to win. It proves one thing - this whole exercise is pointless. We should just quietly make our films.”
The Lunchbox, which won the Critics Week Viewers Choice Award at the Cannes Film Festival 2013, stars Irrfan Khan, Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead roles.
